1919
○The late Namiki Isaburo opened Namiki Women's and Children's Dressmaking Shop at 6-147 Aoyama Minami-cho, Akasaka-ku, Tokyo. In the same shop, women's and children's dressmaking school was established.
1922
○With the cooperation from the late Endo Seijiro, the shop was developed into Bunka Sewing School.
1923
○June 23rd, the day when the school was approved by Tokyo education law as Japan's first dressmaking institution, was made as the anniversary day of the school's founding. The school later changed its name to Bunka Sewing School for Women and it had approximately 100 students.
1935
○Incorporated Foundation Namiki Gakuen was set up and it was approved by The Ministry of Education.
1936
○Publishing of the first fashion-related research magazine/journal, "Soen".
○The school changed its name to Bunka Fashion College.
1953
○French designer, Christian Dior and his party (including 7 models) were invited. Starting from Bunka Fashion College, a number of his fashion shows were held in Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka.
1955
○The first cylindrical school tower in Japan's architectural world was completed. It was a 9-storey building with an underground floor with an area of 3000 tsubo.
1956
○As a celebration for Soen's 20th anniversary, "Soen Award" was established as a gateway to success to fashion designers.
1957
○The first batch of male students consisting of 23 students were given the permission to enrol in the instructor deparment.
○Bunka Fashion College Correspondence Division was established.
1958
○Pierre Cardin, a French designer paid the school a visit.
1960
○Publishing of a fashion magazine, "High Fashion".
1961
○Pierre Cardin visited the school for the second time and he was chosen to be an emeritus professor.
○Publishing of a women's magazine "Misesu".
1963
○"Bunka Fashion College's correspondence course" was approved by the Minister of Education as an authorized course.
1969
○Bunka Fashion College made an affliated-school partnership with State University of New York Fashion Institute of Technology.
1973
○The educational foundation changed its name from Namiki Gakuen to Bunka Gakuen to commemorate its 50th anniversary of the institution's founding.
1976
○Special training college system was put to practice and Bunka Fashion College was approved by Tokyo as a vocational college.
○Fashion show by famous designers who graduated from Bunka Fashion College (Matsuda Mitsuhiro, Koshino Hiroko, Kitahara Akiko, Kaneko Isao, Koshino Junko, Takada Kenzo, Sakaide Tadayomi, Suzuki Norio, Yamamoto Yoji, Hasegawa Yutaka)was held in Endo Memorial Hall.
1980
○A new education system was established together with 3 new courses including fashion/costume course, fashion technology course and fashion distribution course.
1986
○The establishment of specialized course for fashion technology.
1988
○Bunka Fashion College made an affliated-school partnership with Beijing Institute of Fashion College.
○The school was entrusted for the research and development of advancement of professional education in technical colleges by the Minister of Education.
1990
○The establishment of academic exchange agreement with Donghua University in Shanghai, China.
1993
○On the occasion of the school's 70th anniversary for its establishment, "The World of KENZO" was held.
1994
○A new curriculum started and it was changed to a credit system.
1995
○English designer, Paul Smith paid the school a visit.
1996
○Bunka Fashion Open College was put to start.
○Bunka received an invitation to Japan-Romania friendship event and students presented their works in Bucharest
1998
○The first stage of campus planning for the new school building was completed.
2003
○Bunka celebrated its 80th establishment anniversary.Graduates of the Bunka hold an event called “The 80 fellow creators”.
○With a collaboration with Donghua University, "Japan Bunka Fashion College" was built in the university.
2005
○Jan Jansen, a shoe designer from Netherland was invited as a guest professor of the school.
○The 7th IFFTI (Internation Foundation of Fashion Technology Institute) was held in Bunka.
○Bunka was the only school to participate in the 1st Fashion Collection during Japan Fashion Week.
2006
○Japan's first professional postgraduate school specialized in fashion, "Bunka Fashion postgraduate school" was established.
○The newly established course, "Specialized course for fashion technology- advanced fashion expert course (4 years)" was approved.
○"Soen" celebrated its 70th anniversary by holding a fashion show in Laforet Harajuku.
2007
○Italian designer, Adriano Goldschmied who is also known as "The God of Denim" paid Japan a visit.
○The 1st "High school students' fashion design award" was held with the support from The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
○TDuring the school festival, students produced several works using Vienna Philharmonic Gold Bullion Coin with the support from The Embassy of Australia.
2008
○The first directly managed school, Bunka Fashion College Hiroshima campus was established.
2010
○Pierre Cardin, the emeritus professor of the college paid Japan a visit. A fashion show was held in Bunka to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of atelier.
○On the ocassion of Anniversary celebration of Nara Heijo-kyo Capital, a fashion show was held in Nara.
○A collaboration was made between Shenkar College of Engineering and Design with students from the advanced fashion expert course.
2011
○A fashion show for Tsumori Chisato's collection was held in Bunka Fashion College.
○Runway for Japan was held as an event to support earthquake recovery.
2012
○International student hall in Fuchu was established.
○Bunka was chosen for Fashion Global Human Resource Development Industry-University Collaboration Consortium by The Ministry of Education.
○Bunka received an award from the Chinese government for its collaboration business with Donghua University on the 10th anniversary.
○LAFA and Bunka Fashion College collaborated and established Rumei & Bunka International Fashion College with Japanese language education as a part of its curriculum.
2013
○As a celebration for the school's 90th anniversary, Sumire-kai was held.
○The 16th IFFTI's (Internation Foundation of Fashion Technology Institute)international meeting and annual convention was held in Bunka Fashion College.
